DIX is a cool English font created by Dumpatom, a designer based in Shanghai, China. The name of the font is extracted from the initials of several keywords: Evolution, Design, Innovate and Xerox.

The font has the following characteristics:

A. Extreme aesthetics in the golden ratio

The text is focused on simplification, so detail and space are important factors in the aesthetics. Since the individual letters do not have too many elements that need to be used, each character needs to be extreme. Clean, simple and beautiful. These are my basic requirements for each character, so I invoked the famous “Golden Ratio” in the structure of the character presentation, i.e., creating the character in a “Golden Rectangle”. It is because each character follows the aesthetics-consistent, so in the practical application of the good visual effect.

B. Distinctive missing corners

When it comes to technology and the future, people associate it with robustness, dynamism and rapid development. Therefore, I want to design a font that reflects these characteristics, which can eventually be applied to the brand and various promotional titles to unify the brand concept and spirit. On the basis of ensuring the beauty of the characters, the cut corners are processed, and the sense of speed it presents, and the sense of technology generated by the sense of speed, can well reflect the user's idea of leading the trend of the times.

C. Smart Rounded Corners

In traditional writing, Chinese writing has always been limited to the field character grid, while Latin writing has always been trying to break through the boundaries. How to make the Latin characters confined in the golden rectangle and get the aesthetic unity - - became the biggest difficulty in this font design. Therefore, when I was looking for some graphic shapes with modernity, I hoped to use rounded corners to weaken the sharpness of the characters themselves, such as A N V Z, a typical angular letter. For letters like C E S P, which do not have angular features, I kept their basic shape while incorporating corner-cutting elements to give them a more spontaneous look and feel and enhance the rhythm of the letters.
